The idea of Google Webmaster Tools is to provide website owners with the means to improve your visibility on web sites and also to diagnose a variety of different errors (if any). If you have a Google Account, you must create one before you can use Google Webmaster Tools.
The first step when logging into your account is made to verify that you have a website. Enter the URL of your site that is a choice of options to verify ownership. You can paste a META tag in the page or download an html file. Once you've done that Google then verifies that the change was made and then, Google knows you have control of the site.
Once approved, you will now be able to manage your profile, click on "Manage: yourwebsite.com" link on the dashboard Google Webmaster Tools. There are a number of different options and we will examine some of the most important here.
Diagnostic
This tool allows you to see if your site has errors. These can be 404 errors, pages and excluded a number of other errors, such as the URL does not follow URL URL expired or unavailable. The Google site robot check all of your site and to report what it finds.
Top search queries
This is a great feature in Google Webmaster Tools, you can see where people come when they enter a Google search. You will see a list of search queries and the number of times each query was clicked. This feature allows you to examine all the links on your site and you can see and measure the link popularity, internal or external. For example, you might be interested to see how a link on your site is used and how often. Google Webmaster Tools: Link function tells the answer.
Google Sitemaps
You can create and upload the XML sitemaps with this feature. This means that your Sitemaps catalog pages and links, so that Googlebot can crawl your site, view content, and its ranking in the index.
If you are interested in ensuring that the content of your site is seen by Google and other Web sites, you should seriously consider hitting your site which means that search engines have added new content and therefore you must visit your site again in the near future and re-classify the site.
